Rwanda: this small East African country should not be overlooked by roasters and coffee lovers. Known as the Land of a Thousand Hills, its production of high-quality, high-altitude coffee goes side-by-side with its fight against poverty.
It’s not one of Africa’s largest producing countries; in 2016, it harvested just 222,000 , 60 kg bags compared to 7.1 million in Ethiopia and 4.9 million in Uganda. However, Rwanda is positioning itself as a world-class specialty coffee origin and the delicious flavors of its coffee back this up.
Best Consumed: 5-20 days post-roast date
This coffee is great for filter brew methods. Our favorites are Kalita Wave, Aeropress or Clever Dripper. For filter, we recommend 6g of ground coffee for every 100ml of water at approx 93c. Use your kitchen scales you’ll love it!
